For thirty-five years, GMR Recyclers has operated business in the South Dallas community and has always made community involvement a major priority. GMR has donated its time and resources to hundreds of charities throughout the city of Dallas. GMR honors schools, churches, foundations, and civic events by stepping in and helping where help is needed. Below are examples of GMR’s contributions:

  • Dallas: Hope for Haiti Relief Event
  • Dallas Children’s Book Fair and Literacy Festival
  • Dallas Community Health Fair

  • MDA Telethon
  • “Imagine the Impossible” Arts Program
  • City of Dallas

  • Mayor Leppert’s Passport to Health
  • South Dallas Cleanup Sponsor: GMR employees cleaned up over 500 pounds of trash from the neighborhood

Mayor Tom Leppert congratulates GMR Recyclers at the LamarBQ neighborhood event, November 2010.

In 2010, GMR resurrected and underwrote the Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration at Fair Park for the City of Dallas. After news of insufficient funding, GMR stepped in to make sure that this civic event took place. The event was a proven success with over forty thousand people in attendance and served as a great example of GMR’s loyalty to the city.  Again in July, 2011, GMR sponsored the Fair Park Fourth Fireworks Celebration for the City of Dallas.  GMR is now the title fireworks sponsor for all Fair Park events, including City Arts Festival, Fair Park Fourth, and Fair Park Holiday.

As for other community initiatives, in November, 2010, GMR hosted a neighborhood block party, LamarBQ. Two thousand neighborhood friends and family joined the GMR team, community leaders, and city councilpeople for a celebration of the South Lamar neighborhood.  Games, music, and barbeque, attracted families to participate and witness conceptual plans to rejuvenate the area. This event marked a very special time in GMR’s history, as they celebrated with thousands of their closest and dearest friends with whom they have worked and lived beside for thirty-five years.
